How To Fix ‘Fatal Error: Allowed memory size of # bytes exhausted…”

The error looks something like…

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2348617 bytes) in /home4/xxx/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line xxx

This is a common problem and occurs when you exceed your default Memory Limit.

Download the wp-config.php from the root WordPress directory.

Add the following line towards the top of the file inside the main php tag:

 define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M');

This increases the memory limit to 128M.

Note: If you continue to see this error after making this update, you’ll need to contact and work with your web hosting company as likely you’re hitting a threshold they’ve set on their server settings for memory usage.
